Health Promoters/CHWs continuing education classes
Promotores, also known as community health workers, play an important role in promoting community-based health education and prevention in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate, particularly in communities and for populations that have been historically underserved. This is why NC AHEC continues to meet with graduates to provide opportunities for education, information, and networking amongst Promotores. These extra classes provide Promotores with continuing education necessary to learn more about prevention of health issues such as Mental Health, CPR/First AID, children’s Illness, HIV testing, counseling, healthy cooking classes among others. They also learn about new services, resources, and programs from the diverse clinics, hospitals, and organizations in the region.
