The pharmacy technician pipeline program is a free health career certification program for high school students! To be a pharmacy technician in the state of Kentucky, you must be 16 years old and a resident of KY, allowing pharmacy to be a great entry health career.
To prepare students for a career in pharmacy and enhance employability, the North Central AHEC offers a free training for students to become a nationally certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. The North Central AHEC provides a self-paced training course through RXTechexam, a PTCB recognized program to allow students to sit for the CPhT exam. The program is online and self-paced, allowing students to work on it during the school year. The program will be supplemented with monthly study sessions led by a certified pharmacy technician. At the end of the academic year, North Central AHEC will provide a voucher for students who completed the course to take the PTCB exam. Meeting dates for the 2026-2027 academic year are listed below. All meetings are held from 4pm-5pm at the Gateway Community and Technical College Campus with the exception of the January field trip to UC.
