Community Health Fairs
​(Ferias de Salud)

The North Central AHEC offers several health fairs every year aimed to serve underrepresented communities of central and northern Kentucky as well as the general population. Health screenings, such as blood pressure, height, weight, blood glucose and cholesterol, hearing testing, dental examination, and HIV/AIDS testing, are offered free of charge. These include:  La Esperanza Latino Center health fair, Cristo Rey Parish health fair and SantaMaria health fair.

Health Promotores classes
Promotores, also known as community health workers, play an important role in promoting community-based health education and prevention in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate, particularly in communities and for populations that have been historically underserved.
All classes can be taught in Spanish or English

Heart saver CPR/AED: This class equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergencies, particularly those involving cardiac arrest.
Salva Corazones RCP-Resucitacion Cardiopulmonar: Esta clase proporcionaa las personas los conocimientos y las habilidades para responder eficazmente en emergencias, especialmente en aquellas que involucran un paro cardíaco.

Pregnancy and Parenting Programs: This class provides information about care before, during, and after pregnancy. It also includes facts about babies' milestones and best practices for disciplining and understanding our children.
Cuidados en el Embarazo y Crianza: Esta clase proporciona información sobre los cuidados antes, durante y después del embarazo. También incluye información sobre los hitos de los bebés y las mejores prácticas para disciplinar y comprender a los hijos.

Essentials of Workplace Stress and Mental Health: This class helps to identify workplace stressors that impact mental health outcomes, including dangerous working conditions, stress and worry, job strain, and long work hours.
Aspectos Esenciales del Estrés Laboral y la Salud Mental: Esta clase ayuda a identificar los factores estresantes en el lugar de trabajo que afectan la salud mental, incluyendo condiciones laborales peligrosas, estrés y preocupación, tensión laboral y largas jornadas laborales.

Extreme Temperatures: Heat Illness Prevention: This class will help you identify, prevent, and manage heat—and cold-related illnesses (Click here to register)
Temperaturas Extremas: Prevención de Enfermedades causadas por el Calor Extremo: Esta clase ayuda a identificar, prevenir y controlar las enfermedades relacionadas con el calor extremo, incluyendo recomendaciones en el caso de temperaturas extremadamente frías. (haga clic aquí para registrarse)

Health Coverage Literacy: This class provides information about the different healthcare coverage options and how to navigate the websites and processes of getting the healthcare that best suits each individual or family.
Conocimientos sobre Cobertura Médica: Esta clase proporciona información sobre las diferentes opciones de cobertura médica y cómo navegar por los sitios web y los procesos para obtener la atención médica que mejor se adapte a cada persona o familia.

Cooking Classes: Teaching the community healthy recipes from different counties to encourage positive dietary choices, the importance of healthy eating of the positive impact to overall well-being and long-term health.

Blood Pressure Training: Teaching the community to understand blood pressure is vital for maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system, encourage them to measure blood pressure accurately at home can help manage health.

​Menopause Course: Basic information about this transition in the women life, these talks aim to demystify the experience, address common symptoms and explore treatment options
